To Accelerate Cryptocurrency Adoption, We Must First Improve User Experience

Only with increasing difficulty can one recall a time when the majority of the world was yet to adopt the internet. In 1995, user adoption of the internet had only reached 10% of American households, five years after the very first web browser was launched. Another five years later, in the year 2000, 50% of the United States nation had already adopted the internet. Imagining today’s world without internet is simply unfathomable and, in the future, the same will be said about cryptocurrency. The technologies fostered by the crypto industry…

Bitcoin Price Ready for $10K Retest as Algorand, Tezos Continue Surge

The price of Bitcoin (BTC) has been showing weakness throughout the week. However, the key support level is holding up, and this triggered the continuation of many altcoins such as Tezos (XTZ) and Algorand (ALGO), which are soaring on July 11, gaining over 9% and 17%, respectively.  The massive surges in altcoin price usually occur when Bitcoin remains calm and this is what we have seen happening in the previous two months. The question is how long will this last and is the top-ranked cryptocurrency by market capitalization ready for…

Bitcoin Is Still a Mere 0.5% of the U.S. Stock Market: Crypto Research Firm

In the span of just over a decade, Bitcoin has gone from a puny asset to one worth over $170 billion. It’s a rally that has caught many off guard, evidenced by those that have long asserted the cryptocurrency is a Ponzi scheme or otherwise. Data shows, however, that BTC remains just a drop in the bucket in the macro scheme of things. A cryptocurrency research firm recently reminded its followers of this fact; it said that BTC’s market capitalization is less than 1% of that of U.S. stocks. Bitcoin…

Startup Helps Reduce Child Labor in Africa & Aspires to Work with Tesla

Recently, the venture arms of corporate giants Volvo and Total invested in blockchain traceability startup Circulor that helps reduce child labor in Africa and aspires to work with Tesla, GM and Ford. Prior to an investment by its venture arm, Volvo was testing Circulor’s platform for over a year. The startup was helping the carmaker to verify the origins of cobalt used in its batteries. Cobalt, as is with many other raw materials, is not always ethically sourced. Circulor is also tracking the origins of another important raw material for…

DOGE Tik Tok Pump Likely Over, OKCcoin CMO Says

Dogecoin’s (DOGE) price has fallen notably after social media enthusiasts promoted the asset for days on Tik Tok in an effort to send the asset to $1. The escapade shows signs of conclusion according to OKCoin CMO Haider Rafique.   “The Doge/Tik Tok effect is really down to the vitality of the Tik Tok platform, more than the crypto industry, as it thrives off of creating viral challenges – a category in which this Dogecoin challenge fits,” Rafique told Cointelegraph on July 10.  He added: “Tik Tok challenges tend to come and go…

Decentralized File Sharing, Explained

Decentralized file sharing is a way of storing files across multiple nodes in a network rather than on a single centralized server. As the digital era has progressed, the internet has become a vast and complex web of data and files that communicate using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol, or HTTP. As internet traffic has increased over time and the sheer volume of information transmitted has become enormous, HTTP has started to crack under this strain. For example, each time we load a web page, HTTP is used to retrieve content…

Review: ‘HOW ARE WE’ – Tokenized Performance Art Film

As Cointelegraph reported, earlier this week a quarantine-inspired performance art film called HOW ARE WE was hashed and minted into a non-fungible token on the Ethereum blockchain. The project also minted another group of fungible HOW tokens and distributed these amongst the film’s contributors. The rights to the work are now controlled by the main token holder, although mechanisms are in place to ensure that any change of ownership will also reward the holders of the HOW tokens. The entire value of the initial sale will be distributed between the…

Comparing Apple to Bitcoin? Crypto Occupies a Class of Its Own

A recent article by a Cointelegraph Markets contributor proclaimed that “Bitcoin is the ‘new’ Apple,” explaining just how Bitcoin’s (BTC) price could reach $60,000 by 2023: “Bitcoin hangs near the chasm of the adoption curve, and its price looks similar to Apple’s stock in 2008 before it broke out with a 520% rally.”  The technology adoption curve referenced was Everett Rogers’ famous “diffusion of innovations” model, published in 1962, which described the five stages through which technology becomes “diffused” — i.e., goes mainstream: innovators, early adopters, early majority, late majority…
